....After finishing my paper that August morning, I relaxed in the living room with a copy of the Hollywood Reporter, the trade journal of the movie industry. I happened across an article stating that Universal Studios was going to make a serial called FLASH GORDON and they were in the process of testing for the lead. I was kind of curious. I had followed old Flash in the papers for some time, and I pictured several actors in my mind who I thought would make a good Flash Gordon. I wasn't on call that day, so I decided to run out to Universal and watch the testing.....

		.....The first time I ever acted with Charles King was in BILLY THE KID WANTED where he and Glenn Strange had a fight scene with me in a saloon. Before we began filming the action, we rehearsed the sequence of events so each of us would know what the other was going to do. I remember saying to King, "Charlie, make sure you pull your punches." "Buster, I've never hit anyone in my life," he replied......
	....I took a small hunk of meat from the bucket with my right hand and held it out as the animal neared. Without breaking its stride, he walked right up to me, opened his mouth and accepted the tidbit, then stood still waiting for more.....but I was soon to learn that feeding jungle cats with your hand was living dangerously.......
